The Photographer is responsible for completing photographic activities throughout various organizations in state government. This position is governed by state and federal laws and institution policy.
Receives photographic requests, establishes completion time frames, determines required equipment, and selects background properties, according to subject matter, materials, and conditions.
Directs still photography and video shoots by choosing locations, developing schedules, and selecting models and equipment props.
Produces and directs videotaping of public service announcements, crime scenes, and special campus events by choosing locations and subjects and selecting and operating cameras and equipment during production.
Provides technical assistance to campus personnel, law enforcement officials, travel writers, and photographers by explaining photographic capabilities and limitations, relaying new photographic techniques, and answering questions and inquiries concerning photographic requests.
Coordinates activities with advertising representatives to supply video and still images for publications, brochures, television spots, and website updates.
Produces computer digital images from film using flatbed scanners and photofinishing laboratories.
Researches new processes, computer software, and equipment for possible utilization and recommends purchases as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.
SPECIAL JOB DIMENSIONS:
May require occasional in-state or area travel. May require carrying and arranging of photographic and video equipment. May require stooping, bending, climbing, etc.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS:
Knowledge of the operation, adjustment, and maintenance of professional photographic and audio visual equipment. Knowledge of the methods and techniques of photography and video production. Ability to plan and produce still photography and video shoots. Ability to coordinate promotional, crime scene, and special event activities with law enforcement, advertising, and campus representatives. Ability to operate photographic, audio visual, and photo lab equipment. Ability to plan, compose, and produce pictures using computer software and photographic equipment. Ability to recommend purchases of computer software and equipment.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma; plus three years of experience in photography, video production, or a related field.

Must possess a valid Arkansas driver
