UAPB DIRECTOR OF HOUSING
SUMMARY:
The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) Director of Housing is responsible for directing student housing and associated programs. This position is governed by state and federal laws and institution policy.
TYPICAL FUNCTIONS:
Supervises Resident Program Coordinators by interviewing, hiring, training, making work assignments and evaluating job performance.
Directs student housing and student life programs in resident halls, develops residential policies and procedures, assists in developing budget requests, directs building security programs, makes room assignments, and prepares reports.
Administers Student Life Program in residence halls.
Provides resources for educational and enrichment programs and counsels students individually or in groups.
Coordinates academic advising, requests medical attention for residents, and handles disciplinary matters.
Meets with parents and visitors concerning housing, attends resident hall programs, evaluates programs, and recommends changes.
Coordinates university housing with other student services on and off campus.
Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS:
Knowledge of university policies and state laws applicable to the university housing program. Knowledge of maintenance and custodial requirements. Knowledge of budgeting and record keeping. Knowledge of campus and community resources for student life programs. Ability to plan housing programs. Ability to provide guidance, assistance, and counseling to students.
Ability to prepare budgetary recommendations and reports. Ability to supervise a subordinate resident life staff.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a major in general business, business administration, public administration, or a related field; plus two years of experience in student housing, student programs or a related area, including one year in a supervisory or leadership capacity.
Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Arkansas Division of Higher Education.
OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
