SPECIAL EVENTS SUPERVISOR
SUMMARY:
The Special Events Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the preparation and coordination of special events and operating, renting, and maintaining multi-media equipment. This position is governed by state and federal laws and institution policy.
TYPICAL FUNCTIONS:
Supervises a staff of special event and student workers by recommending applicants for hire, making work assignments, and training employees. Participates in the coordination of special events by discussing multi-media equipment needs with requesting party, assisting with equipment set-up, and offering technical advice concerning the operation of equipment. Reviews requests for equipment rental by student groups, faculty, and staff, and orders additional materials and equipment, as needed, to meet deadlines for scheduled events. Operates multi-media equipment, as needed, and assists in assembling props during special events. Tests and repairs multi-media equipment as required. Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment used during special events.
Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS:
Knowledge of supervisory practices and procedures. Knowledge of special event operations. Knowledge of sound, lighting, and other types of media equipment and techniques for stage events. Ability to communicate media ideas with others. Ability to supervise the work of subordinates. Ability to operate, adjust, and maintain various media equipment.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma; plus three years of experience working with special events, including multi-media equipment, including one year in a supervisory or leadership capacity.
Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Arkansas Division of Higher Education.
OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
