VEHICLE FACILITIES COORD

SUMMARY:

The Vehicle Facilities Coordinator is responsible for the management and coordination of the parking control staff, the parking lots, and the parking facilities. This position is governed by state and federal laws and institution policy.

TYPICAL FUNCTIONS:

Supervises the parking control staff including preparing and assigning work schedules to cover all areas. Recruits, interviews, recommends for hire, trains staff, and evaluates job performance.

Analyzes parking control coverage needs and adjusts staffing, as necessary, to provide critical and uniform coverage of facilities.

Reviews daily work documentation and reports of parking control staff and follows up to maintain level of control and order.

Assists in resolving problems with faculty, staff, students, vendors or the general public encountered by the parking control staff.

Authorizes the installation of devices to immobilize vehicles identified as chronic parking violators and oversees the removal of such vehicles from the campus parking facility.

Authorizes the towing of illegally parked vehicles and coordinates parking activities with proper law enforcement authority.

Evaluates parking data and prepares recommendations for changes to parking lot and parking facilities designation.

 Develops a parking uses plan to accommodate peak usage and utilization of spaces. 

Surveys parking facilities and equipment to identify maintenance requirements for surfaces, structures, lighting, and way finding.

Assigns maintenance duties to parking control staff and follows up to ensure repairs are properly completed.

Reports incidents of public abuse toward parking control staff and follows proper procedures to prevent and resolve such issues.

Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS:

Knowledge of campus parking rules and regulations. Knowledge of supervisory practices and procedures. Knowledge of parking space requirements and specifications. Knowledge of campus parking lots, buildings and facilities. Ability to access the parking needs and facilities for the campus. Ability to oversee the activities of subordinate employees. Ability to plan and outline parking facilities to accommodate patrons. Ability to analyze parking control problems and recommend actions. Ability to supervise or lead the work of others.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma; plus two years of experience working in parking control, including one year in a supervisory capacity.

Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Arkansas Division of Higher Education.

OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
