UAM DIRECTOR OF HOUSING

SUMMARY:

The University of Arkansas at Monticello (UAM) Director of Housing is responsible for directing the student housing program and related activities. This position is governed by state and federal laws and institution policy.

TYPICAL FUNCTIONS:

Directs the overall administration of the student housing and student life programs.

Manages and provides direction to subordinate staff in the operation of the resident housing program.

Develops policies and procedures for the administration of student housing.

Prepares student housing contracts and establishes student behavior policies.

Develops and administers departmental operations budget and monitors expenditures.

Coordinates academic advising in resident halls and provides resources for education and enrichment programs.

Coordinates university housing operations with other student services on and off campus.

Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS:

Knowledge of university policies and state laws applicable to university housing program. Knowledge of maintenance and custodial requirements and techniques of campus housing. Knowledge of budgetary principles and practices. Knowledge of campus and community resources for student life program. Ability to formulate, interpret, and apply policies and procedures for program operations. Ability to provide direction to a residence life subordinate staff. Ability to prepare budgetary and housing rate recommendations based on past expenditures and future needs.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in general business, business administration, public administration or a related field; plus two years of experience in student housing, student programs, or a related area, including one year in a supervisory capacity.

Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Arkansas Division of Higher Education.

OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
