UAF CONSTRUCTION COORDINATOR

SUMMARY:

The University of Arkansas Fayetteville (UAF) Construction Coordinator is responsible for planning and supervising construction projects of remodeling, renovation, and repairs. This position is governed by state and federal laws and institution policy.

TYPICAL FUNCTIONS:

Provides general supervision subordinates by assigning work, establishing deadlines, providing instructions, training new employees, reviewing the work performed to ensure accuracy and compliance with instructions, and evaluating the performance of incumbents.

Receives project assignments, writes construction project plans, and inspects all existing buildings to determine structural repair or renovation needs.

Estimates construction time and materials required for construction, repair, or renovation projects.

Obtains and processes quote bids, prepares cost estimates, schedules or estimates project completion date, monitors project budget, and prepares cost related reports of construction projects.

Draws and interprets blueprints of architectural designs and participates with administrative officials in planning major renovation and remodeling projects.

Inspects work at job site prior to construction to determine progress, notes problems or deficiencies, recommends changes, writes specification, obtains prices for construction changes, and submits to upper level management.

Provides technical assistance and gives instructions to architects, engineers, and construction supervisor to correct problems.

Verifies delivery, inventories and inspects materials, equipment, and tools at job site to ensure conformance to specifications.

Maintains a log on all completed projects, contractors, blueprints, repairs, or replacement invoices and inspection reports.

Performs other duties as assigned.

SPECIAL JOB DIMENSIONS:

Occasional in-state travel is required.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS:

Knowledge of the supervisory practices and procedures. Knowledge of building construction techniques, materials, and costs. Knowledge of construction budget development. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the work of subordinates skilled trade workers. Ability to conduct on-site inspections of buildings to determine quality and progress of on-going operations. Ability to draw and interpret blueprints and building specifications. Ability to develop construction plans, procedures, and budgets.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

The formal education equivalent of a bachelor
