UAF ASST BUSINESS MANAGER

SUMMARY:

The University of Arkansas Fayetteville (UAF) Assistant Business Manager is responsible for the administration of activities of the university communications system. This position is governed by state and federal laws and institution policy.

TYPICAL FUNCTIONS:

Directs and administers the business related services of the university communication system.

Approves and makes recommendations on new equipment requests.

Plans future communication needs of campus by working with representatives and specialists in the communications field.

Coordinates billing of individual departments for telephone equipment and long distance charges and approves payment of telephone bills.

Makes recommendations for copying, duplicating, and printing equipment requests.

Develops costs comparisons and quality studies on the various equipment.

Provides state purchasing office with information on new equipment requests, inventory, and special requests.

Assists student organizations with financial activities of purchasing, payrolls, and annual income and expenditure reports.

Assists Business Manager in the development of overall goals, objectives, and policy.

Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS:

Knowledge of university and state business operations, practices, and techniques. Knowledge of business management, accounting, and fiscal reporting. Knowledge of budgetary planning development and administration. Knowledge of state purchasing laws and procedures. Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate business activities. Ability to establish and apply accounting principles and practices. Ability to prepare detailed written reports. Ability to develop program goals, objectives, and policy.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in business administration, general business, public administration or related field; plus three years of progressively more responsible experience in business management, communications management or a related field.

Additional requirements determined by the institution for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Arkansas Division of Higher Education.

OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
