TECHNICAL INSTITUTE PROGRAM COORDINATOR
SUMMARY:
The Technical Institute Program Coordinator is responsible for overseeing instructors and teacher assistants and directing the operations of an assigned unit. This position is governed by state and federal laws and institution policy.
TYPICAL FUNCTIONS:
Supervises or coordinates the activities of a small professional staff as needed by interviewing, recommending for hire, making work assignments and evaluating the performance of incumbents.
Oversees operations of assigned unit(s) by monitoring program effectiveness, researching and developing new programs, conducting and attending staff meetings and reviewing reports submitted by subordinates.
Assesses in-service training needs of staff and conducts training sessions as needed.
Administers and scores various educational assessment tests and determines vocational placement of clients by matching clients skills to available jobs. Contacts employers to discuss effectiveness of job and to observe and correct safety standards. Develops curriculum for vocational programs by determining skills needed for each task to be performed. Maintains documentation concerning client behavior, progress and health problems for annual review and recommends modifications to the client programs based on progress.
Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS:
Knowledge of vocational job placement and evaluation. Knowledge of bidding procedures and contracts. Knowledge of vocational/industrial safety programs. Ability to supervise an instructional and support staff. Ability to plan, organize and oversee the work of others. Ability to prepare, present and review oral and written information.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree in psychology, vocational education, or a related field; plus two years of experience working in an instructional environment or a related area.
Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Arkansas Division of Higher Education.
OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
