STUDENT ACCOUNTS SPECIALIST
SUMMARY:
The Student Accounts Specialist is responsible for processing student financial accounts at an institution of higher education. This position is governed by state and federal laws and institution policy.
TYPICAL FUNCTIONS:
Receives funds and collection of payments and posts and bills charges to appropriate accounts.
Explains state, federal, and institution policies and regulations related to student accounts to students.
Performs periodic audit of accounts as needed.
Compiles and prepares various financial reports related to student accounts.
Coordinates collection activities with other administrative offices, collection agencies, and other government entities.
Maintains files and records in institution database and coordinates data processing services required for student account billing and financial reporting.
Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS:
Knowledge of student financial aid programs. Knowledge of collection procedures and methods. Ability to participate in student account activities. Ability to compile and report information and statistics from student accounts.
Ability to explain policies and regulations to students concerning accounts.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma; plus two years of experience in student financial accounts, banking or a related area.
Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Arkansas Division of Higher Education.
