LOGISTICS MANAGER

SUMMARY:

The Logistics Manager is responsible for the receipt, storage, and distribution of supplies and equipment. This position is governed by state and federal laws and institution policy.

TYPICAL FUNCTIONS:

Provides immediate supervision of the work of subordinate stockroom and shipping and receiving clerks by establishing work schedules, providing detailed instructions, and reviewing the work, to ensure adherence to proper protocols and delivery of services.

Develops and revises policies and procedures for the receipt, storage, issuance, and distribution of stored equipment and supplies.

Provides employee job training, evaluates work performance, and handles disciplinary matters.

Compiles data for budget preparation and prepares work unit activity reports.

Initiates actions for issuance, distribution, and/or redistribution of stored equipment and supplies.

Communicates with various departments, to ensure desired quantities of supplies and equipment are available, and orders replacement parts and tool inventory.

Works with outside sources, such as suppliers and contractors, on incorrect orders and takes necessary measures to prevent reoccurrence.

Prepares and circulates correspondence to departments regarding receipt, storage, and distribution of supplies and equipment.

Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS:

Knowledge of state and institution rules and regulations concerning acquisition and distribution of goods. Knowledge of methods and procedures used in acquiring and distributing supplies and equipment. Ability to supervise a subordinate staff of shipping, receiving, and stockroom clerks.

Ability to maintain inventory records and compile information into report form. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma; plus three years of experience in purchasing, storeroom operations, or a related area, including one year in a supervisory capacity.

Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Arkansas Division of Higher Education.

OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
