DIRECTOR OF ALUMNI
SUMMARY:
The Director of Alumni Affairs is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing alumni program activities. This position is governed by state and federal laws and institution policy.
TYPICAL FUNCTIONS:
Collects data on alumni interests relative to campus resources.
Reviews and assesses collected information, incorporating goals, objectives, and needs of campus and alumni.
Makes recommendations for approval of programs to department officials and alumni board.
Establishes guidelines, requirements, and procedures necessary to carry out programs.
Maintains alumni website by updating alumni information, correcting malfunctions and problems, creating links to other websites, and initiating online registration and payment of dues.
Works with other campus departments, alumni committees, and volunteers to develop suggestions on future alumni activities.
Meets with alumni chapters to make presentations, answer questions, and solicit memberships and contributions.
Compiles and prepares statistical and financial reports associated with alumni affairs activities.
Gathers information for releases and publications, writes and edits copy for articles, forwards copy for printing, proofreads final copy, and arranges for distribution.
Performs other duties as assigned.
SPECIAL JOB DIMENSIONS:
This position may involve travel to alumni events, which may include in and out-of-state travel.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS:
Knowledge of the operation of an alumni program. Knowledge of fund raising techniques. Knowledge of language usage for writing and speaking purposes. Ability to analyze alumni program needs and develop and implement program guidelines and procedures. Ability to maintain and update an alumni website Ability to collect, compose, and edit information for writing or commentary. Ability to compile alumni financial and statistical information into report form.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a major in public relations, communications, or a related field; plus two years of experience in alumni programs administration or a related area, including one year in a leadership capacity.

Must possess a valid Arkansas driver
