DESIGN CONSULTANT

SUMMARY:

The Design Consultant is responsible for the development and implementation of printed and online documentation relevant to design and working with constituents to implement the best practices of interior or architectural design. This position is governed by state and federal laws and institution policy.

TYPICAL FUNCTIONS:

Writes a variety of technical documents for the documentation of best practices in the area of either architectural or interior design.

Prepares communications regarding design implementation and coordinates the approval and publishing of these documents.

Facilitates the gathering of information to be documented from team members involved in each technical process.

Maintains contact information for appropriate liaison staff.

Coordinates the display of graphics, the production of documents, and, when appropriate, the publishing of the documents on the web site, and provides technical assistance to constituents.

Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS:

Knowledge of interior design and architecture. Knowledge of AutoCAD, PhotoShop, and similar software. Knowledge of development and implementation of printed and online material. Knowledge of technical writing. Ability to maintain internal documentation library. Ability to understand and edit technical writing.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in interior design, architecture or a related field; plus two years of experience in interior design, architectural design or a related area.

Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Arkansas Division of Higher Education.

OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
