COMPUTER OPERATIONS COORDINATOR
SUMMARY:
The Computer Operations Coordinator is responsible for technical supervision of computer operations. This position is governed by state and federal laws and institution policy.
TYPICAL FUNCTIONS:
Develops, writes, and updates policies and procedures to ensure daily functions and operations are accomplished efficiently and effectively, so that jobs are performed to proper and technical specifications, using mainframe/personal computers, technical manuals, and appropriate software.
Assists in hiring, training, evaluating, and scheduling employees by advising of the requirements of the position, providing feedback on performance and communicating goals and objectives.
Ensures adherence to security procedures to prevent unauthorized access and to protect equipment, staff, sensitive information, and files.
Communicates orally and electronically to data processing personnel and network clients to provide information on network functions, scheduled downtime, policies and overall computer usage procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS:
Knowledge of the principles of computer network operations. Knowledge of methods to measure efficiency and effectiveness of computer utilization and performance. Knowledge of maintenance, repair, and updating of computer hardware and software. Knowledge of computer security and environmental control methods. Ability to determine resolutions for technical and personnel problems. Ability to work within time constraints and schedule resources and personnel.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
The formal education equivalent of an associate
