The Clinic Business Services Manager is responsible for managing the operations of work
units within the Patient Business Services department. This position is governed by state and federal laws and institution policy.
Supervises a professional, technical and administrative support staff by interviewing, hiring, training, making work assignments, and evaluating job performance. Develops and executes operational plans of work units, identifies goals and objectives to accomplish, and coordinates development of manual and computer systems and processes, to accomplish tasks of work unit. Monitors daily patient business services operations, handles patient complaints concerning billing, and identifies errors in processing methods. Conducts detailed analysis and studies of billing processes used and recommends changes in policies and procedures within Patient Business Services and the hospital. Provides technical assistance to employees, directs implementation of new or modified insurance and processing changes, and evaluates performance of new and current systems or methods used. Communicates changes in patient billing services to hospital administrators, represents department at various meetings, and explains business operations. Prepares various management reports, unit budget and statistical data, as required. Keeps abreast of insurance regulations, hospital admission requirements, billings, collection procedures and processing requirements.
Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS:
Knowledge of supervisory practices and procedures. Knowledge of public and private insurance operation regulations. Knowledge of hospital financial services and requirements. Knowledge of medical insurance entitlements and processing requirements. Ability to develop policies and procedures for patient billing operations. Ability to implement and analyze new and existing patient business services processes. Ability to monitor work units and provide technical assistance to hospital staff. Ability to direct the work of subordinates.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree with a major in general business, finance, or related field; plus two years of experience in patient business service operations, including two years in a supervisory or leadership capacity.
Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Arkansas Division of Higher Education.
