CAMPUS POSTMASTER

SUMMARY:

The Campus Postmaster is responsible for the operation of a campus post office. This position is governed by state and federal laws and institution policy.

TYPICAL FUNCTIONS:

Supervises a staff of mail officers and mail processors in the pick-up, sorting, and delivery of campus mail.

 Maintains security of postage stamp, money orders, and other inventory assigned to post office. Trains new employees in postage operations, rules, and regulations. Maintains records of postage, money order sales, and invoices and charges to campus departments. Operates postage meter. Assists with sorting incoming mail to all departments and post office boxes. Resolves problems encountered by employees and complaints by faculty and students using post office. Provides daily forwarding service to previous box renters. Prepares daily and monthly post office and meter charges reports to U.S. Post Office. Performs other duties as assigned. 

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS:

 Knowledge of U.S. Postal rules and regulations. Knowledge of supervisory principles and techniques. Knowledge of basic record keeping procedures. Ability to sort and post mail. Ability to operate postal equipment. Ability to maintain and prepare postal records. 

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

 The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma; plus two years of experience in postal operations, including one year in a supervisory capacity. 

Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Arkansas Division of Higher Education.

OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
