AUDIOVISUAL LABORATORY ASSISTANT

SUMMARY:

The Audiovisual Laboratory Assistant is responsible for the overall maintenance of the audiovisual laboratory. This position is governed by state and federal laws and institution policy.

TYPICAL FUNCTIONS:

Checks out audiovisual equipment and materials to faculty and students upon request.

Maintains records and logs of materials and equipment used.

Explains the use of audiovisual equipment and materials to faculty and students.

Inventories and orders audiovisual equipment and materials as needed.

Prepares audiovisual materials such as slides, fliers, brochures, and video tapes needed on campus, for instruction or special events.

Keeps audiovisual equipment and materials in proper working order through preventative maintenance.

Operates audiovisual equipment when needed.

Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS:

Knowledge of audiovisual materials and equipment. Knowledge of indexing, filing, and retrieval methods used in an audiovisual laboratory. Ability to prepare audiovisual materials for instructional and promotional use. Ability to operate and maintain audiovisual equipment. Ability to provide instruction in the use of audiovisual equipment.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma.

Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Arkansas Division of Higher Education.

OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
