ALUMNI AFFAIRS SPECIALIST
SUMMARY:
The Alumni Affairs Specialist is responsible for work activities associated with an alumni affairs program. This position is governed by state and federal laws and institution policy.
TYPICAL FUNCTIONS:
Designs direct mail packages, including letters of introduction, pledge cards, follow-up requests, and letters of appreciation.
Establishes and implements procedures for finding lost alumni.
Maintains membership and contribution files on alumni database.
Receives dues and contributions, writes and mails receipts, and prepares financial statements.
Informs and clarifies requirements, procedures, or guidelines for program activities and operations to volunteers and committees.
Makes arrangements for facilities and equipment for alumni events.
Gathers information for alumni releases, writes and edits copy for articles, forwards copy for printing, proofreads final copy, and arranges for distribution.
Performs other duties as assigned.
SPECIAL JOB DIMENSIONS:
Occasional in-state travel to alumni events is required.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS:
Knowledge of activities associated with an alumni affairs program. Knowledge of the basic concepts of fund raising. Knowledge of language usage for writing and speaking purposes. Ability to collect, compose, and edit information. Ability to develop alumni informational packets. Ability to maintain files on alumni database.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma; plus one year of specialized training in office administration, business administration, or a related field; plus two years of experience in alumni related activities or a related area.
Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Arkansas Division of Higher Education.
OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
