ADMISSIONS ANALYST SUPERVISOR

SUMMARY:

The Admissions Analyst Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the review and evaluation of applications for admission to the university colleges and/or schools. This position is governed by state and federal laws and institution policy.

TYPICAL FUNCTIONS:

Supervises a small to medium sized staff of admissions analyst by interviewing, recommending for hire/termination, providing training, assigning and reviewing work, and evaluating the performance of incumbents.

Provides technical assistance to subordinate analyst by resolving problems and answering questions, and certifies authenticity of required documents necessary to complete review.

Assists in the planning and implementation of strategies, polices, and procedures for effective and accurate application processing and credential evaluation.

Maintains and disseminates credential evaluation procedures documentation to admissions analyst staff.

Reviews quality assurance reports generated from computerized student information system to identify computer entry and evaluation errors and assists in troubleshooting student information systems problems.

Compiles admissions information and calculates admission statistics for departments reporting requirements.

Provides information, assistance, and clarification to students and campus departments concerning admissions policies and procedures.

Reviews and evaluates applications, academic transcripts, test scores, and other credentials, such as essays, class ranking, student leadership, honors, awards, talents, and achievements relating to request for admission to the university from new students, former students, transfer students, and international students.

Analyzes previous academic coursework and computes grade point averages at other accredited schools, accreditation status of previous schools attended, and test scores. Compares and analyzes all submitted documents considering institution standards to determine admission eligibility.

Attends workshops and meetings to stay abreast of information and technology in credential evaluation.

Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS:

Knowledge of supervisory techniques and concepts of employee development. Knowledge of university admission polices and procedures. Knowledge of current evaluation techniques for international grading and point averages. Knowledge of admission standards and official academic achievement verification processes. Knowledge of office administration and organizational behavior. Ability to analyze official transcripts and evaluate criteria for admission standards. Ability to supervise subordinate personnel and review work assignments. Ability to determine the validity of foreign transcripts and make evaluation comparisons. Ability to communicate admission requirements and define deficiencies in application process. Ability to interpret policies and recommend procedural changes in process as required.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma, plus three years of progressively more responsible experience in university admissions or a related area, including one year in a leadership or supervisory capacity.

Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Arkansas Division of Higher Education.

OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
