LITTLE ROCK, AR – The Arkansas Higher Education Coordinating Board accepted the resignation of Director Brett Powell, Ed.D., effective July 29, 2016, in a special meeting Thursday morning.
“It has been a genuine pleasure working with the Arkansas Higher Education Coordinating Board, Arkansas Department of Higher Education staff and the presidents and chancellors across the state. Though my time at the Department has been short, the work has been challenging and quite productive,” states Powell.
Dr. Powell has accepted a position as the Vice President for Finance and Administration at Henderson State University and is scheduled to begin August 1, 2016.
Additionally, the board voted to appoint Harold Criswell, Senior Associate Director of Administration, to manage the Director Search and all media publications and requests.
The Arkansas Department of Higher Education is responsible for carrying out the policy directives of the AHECB, reviewing college and university academic programs and developing funding recommendations for the state’s 11 public universities and 22 public two-year colleges as well as several other post-secondary entities. In addition, the agency is responsible for distributing approximately $120 million annually from state revenues and lottery funds. For more information, visit www.adhe.edu.
